Greater Things are Still to be Done in Singapore

By Nancy Thiyageas
MITI Area Coordinator for Singapore

In 1998, the Holy Spirit initiated the Moms In Touch International ministry in Singapore when I was burdened by mothers who were struggling with their children and the pressures of coping with our high-standard educational system. Sensing the urgency, I brought this petition before the Lord. God answered my prayer when I came across the Moms In Touch International Booklet. In obedience to the Lord, I began our very first Moms In Touch prayer meeting in my home praying for my children’s school. Under the direction and blessings of the Lord, the ministry grew over the years.

In November 2009, we held the Moms In Touch Arise! Cry Out! event in Singapore, which was remarkable. God blessed us with the perfect location in the heart of Singapore, at the City Missions Church inside City Gate Auditorium. At the event, we hung banners inscribed with the Names of God as a reminder of who God is and His greatness. It was a brilliant, inspiring day where our Lord Jesus Christ's presence was in our midst.

We praise God for sending us approximately 70 ladies from across denominational lines to unite as one family in the body of Christ and to worship, pray and weep over the lives of our children and the generations to come. It was a beautiful picture of unity, as we connected with God and one another through one accord prayer. We also rejoiced over God’s faithfulness to bring both the local and international schools together for the first time ever to share in this historic day of prayer!

I was amazed at how the Holy Spirit took over the entire four-hour session. We hardly realized that the time flew by so swiftly. The dedication of Fern Nichols’ granddaughter was very special as well. It truly captured the heart and vision of MITI. Many of us realized the significance of our role not only as moms but also as "foster moms" and now look at the kids in the streets, including any child who might come before our eyes, as opportunities to pray for them. Imagine how many children would be prayed for if every Christian mom did this!

One mother who attended our event shared a vision she received from the Lord. Some years ago she left her job to be a stay-at-home mom. During this time, the Lord gave her a vision of a network of women, like salmon swimming against the tide. The name of this network was ‘Mothers In Touch’! How awesome for God to affirm His ministry here in Singapore through this mother whom I had never met until this Arise! Cry Out! event. A school counselor came to encourage the MITI women who had prayed for her and her school. She talked about how the prayers of the Moms In Touch women are opening doors for her to share the Word of God with students and teachers.

We are excited by what God did through this day of prayer and believe He will do even greater things in Singapore this year from the overflow of Arise! Cry Out! We trust in Jesus as He continues to lead us in spreading the passion to pray in this city. Our prayer has always been for God to stir the hearts of moms with the desire to pray and to add more of these precious ladies not only to Moms In Touch International in Singapore but throughout the world. All glory and honor and praise be unto Him.

My special thanks to all the MITI leaders who made this day possible for the glory of God.
