Thailand is in Southeast Asia where the primary religion is Buddhism. God is moving and working, however, to build Moms In Touch groups in the cities of Chiang Mai and Bangkok. In the South is the capital city of Bangkok where several MITI groups are praying, including moms at the International Community School, the International School of Bangkok and the RC International School. Their main challenge here is fighting the severe traffic congestion when gathering together. Chiang Mai is where my group prays and is the largest city in Northern Thailand.
There are six groups in Chiang Mai. I am the leader for the group at my church and also a Bible teacher and translator. I have been praying in a Moms In Touch group for ten years. We have a team at our church that meets regularly and includes an administrator, secretary, events coordinator and financial committee. One of our team members who also leads a group at Prince Royals College where 8,000 kids attend, will be visiting Moms In Touch headquarters in February 2010.
We praise God for the 33 people who attended ACO Thailand! Three dads also prayed for us. Although I sent out flyers to many different churches, the number of attendees was not as high as we hoped partly due to the famous garage sale, which kept some of the moms busy shopping. This event is rare, unlike in America, and only happens once or twice a year so it is very popular. We had a good idea though, to attend the next garage sale and encourage women there to join a Moms In Touch prayer group.
During our Arise! Cry Out! event, we were able to translate an example of how to wait on the Lord in praying for teens and included the article in our ACO bulletin. Several women asked for a copy of the bulletin for other moms in their churches who could not attend. God had placed on the heart of my family to cover the cost of these bulletins and stamps so that many more moms would be able to read this and be encouraged to pray.
Looking at the small number of ladies who attended, we were amazed at how the Lord worked mightily and blended representatives from each tribe. Eight languages were represented: Lahu, Karen, Hmong, Kachin, Lisu, Northern and Northeastern Thai, and English! We all cried out with one voice from our hearts to the Lord to deliver our children and their schools, just as the Bible speaks of bringing the Gospel to every tribe, nation and tongue (Revelation 14:6).
We were so blessed to see more mothers stand up and pray for their children.
